This project is a fictional recreation of the revival of Blockbuster. All media created and sourced is only for a school project.
Everyone these days needs a social platform in order to get noticed and sell their service or product. In order to improve in this area, I took a class on promotional writing. We were given different promotional opportunities and were allowed to work with any company we wished.
One such project was taking a company and modernizing their advertising. I went the extra mile, selecting a company that had gone under and bringing it back in a new and fresh way. The original project required a creative brief and sample posts of how to modernize Blockbuster. My later expansion at the end of the quarter required a press release, more social media posts, and other updates of my choosing.
My original project involved crafting characters as interactive guides through the new Blockbuster. When I expanded my project, I found a more simplified approach through color and rectangles to be more organized and modern. Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign got used at various times throughout the project for layout and design.
Another shift from my original project was an addition to the creative brief. Blockbuster fell into obscurity because it didn’t shift with the times. In order to feasibly suggest the return of Blockbuster, I had to give research and ample reason as to why the DVD setup could compete against streaming. I also added more regarding the community events that would be held at the facility.
