Harper Collins Fictional Project

InDesign, Illustrator

This is a student rebrand project and is not an actual rebrand for the company. Total fiction, even if I wish it was reality.

As a writer and book enthusiast, my student rebrand project was on Harper Collins Publishers, one of the five biggest publishers in the world. This company was a merger between two publishers, so I took it upon myself to integrate both concepts more fully in the logo, color palette, and typography.

The deliverables were up to our discretion, so I crafted business cards, a letterhead, a brand guide, a brochure, and a writing journal. All of these elements give a feeling of fire and water (the original companies’ logos) while also focusing on the written word and Harper Collins’ future.

This project had a complete revamp in 2022. My first version was heavily colored, very inconsistent, and had hundreds of fonts that didn’t go together. Coming back to it as a senior at SCAD was refreshing. You know you’ve grown as a designer when you can’t stand looking at your own work. 🙂

All designs are based on a square because of its uniformity and uniqueness in mediums like business cards and brochures. Everything was simplified to clean lines, a singular typeface, and consistent uses of color. The idea is for the books to shine rather than the company.
